Light!

When the World Hope project began in Burora, not only was there no clean water in the community, there was no electrical power. As a result, we had installed solar panels for some basics (security lighting and phone charging) and have a diesel generator to power the well pump. The government recently brought the power grid near campus, but unlike in the States, we had to provide our own power poles, transformer, and campus wiring if we were to be able to access the power.  This was no minor project. Through our generous partner donors, we have been able to fund that construction and the campus is now wired and lit. This increases campus security, enables children to do homework after dark, powers the laptops, eliminates the need for the loud diesel consuming generator, etc.

Another exciting project that was recently completed is the addition of solar powered security cameras to enhance the children’s safety and security.

Technology is only one of many answers to helping strengthen a developing community, but it must play a role if our students are to matriculate into jobs outside subsistence farming. Thank you for your continued support as we strive to lift the community of Burora together.
